There is Always Hope is the first episode of Season 4. It premiered on July 7th, 2013.
Ellis and Mason married, so Will and Miller found an alchohol bottling plant and went there with Ellis and Mason, to celebrate. Later, they found an Army Ranger named Reese stuck in the snow. Asher begins to question the rest of the world, and if they are truly the only group in Eastern Oregon. After Will returned to the school, Brealynn assumed the radio was talking to her, so she gave the radio to Will. On the radio, Cpl. Riley requested assistance with undead attacks, but the radio cut into static.
Will: Riley! Riley! Damnit! Riley! Do you hear me Riley? SILAS RILEY!
Brealynn: Willie, is Riley ok?
Will: I hope so Brealynn, I sure as shit hope so.
Brealynn: You said a swear!
Will shakes his head.
Will: Brealynn? could you get everyone and bring them to me?
Brealynn skips out of Will's room and down the hall. She stops at Asher's room first, then swings the door open.
Brealynn: Willie wants you in his room!
Asher: What for?
Brealynn: (WHISPERS) It's a secret.
Asher: Alright, I'll play along.
Brealynn: I'm not joking! It's about the radio! It was talking to me!
Asher cocks his head, then gets off his bed and heads for Will's room. Brealynn giggles and crosses the hallway to Ashlynn's room.
Brealynn: Willie wants you! He's at his room.
Ashlynn: Why? Is it important?
Brealynn: Riley was talking to me on the radio!
Ashlynn chokes up, and a tear rolls down her face.
Ashlynn: The Cpl. Riley? Who-Who-He's alive?
Brealynn: He's ok! Come on to Willie's room!
Ashlynn runs out of the room toward Will's room Several minues later, Reese, Miller, Ellis, Mason, Jasper, Joshua, Kameron, Dean and Erika are following Brealynn towards Will's room. Will is standing in the hallway holding his radio. Everyone steps inside his room and waits for him to enter. When Will does, he calmy steps inside, slowly pacing with the radio.
Erika: Will? What's this meeting about?
Will: In the begennning, Asher, Ashlynn, Brealynn and I were part of a group of 19 camping out in a house. We stayed for a month there. We left, because an undead horde found us and attacked. I blew the house to pieces with some bombs and such. For you see, I'm a soldier. So is Reese, Mason, and Miller. For a while, we lived on the road. We reached a steel mill not to far from the house. We went in, not knowing. A group lived there. They captured Ashlynn, tortured her. I gathered my army forces in the area, and we went to war, for a whole day, there was shooting, bombings, helicopter passes, then, we deployed a very large bomb, it destroyed the whole mill. Few of my soldiers survived, those who did, they stayed. Before we took off in our helicopter, a large undead horde, maybe the one from the house, it attacked the survivors. We thought they were dead, but a few minutes ago, one of the soldiers contacted me. He needed assistance. I heard lots of them in the background, soldiers. We think it's a fort. I want to go there. To help my brothers. My friends, and to help people in need. Who's with me? I know most people might not want to go. It's a risky descision. We'll burn almost all the fuel in the helicopter, It's possible it's a trap. They could be dead by now. And if the helicopter breaks down, what are we going to use? Every car was burnt out during the riots and fighting in the begenning, and how are we going to use the humvee if the helicopter crashes? These are your choices. You could stay, and spend your whole life wondering, or you could take a risk and come with me. Who's in?
Miller: Damn! That was motivating. I'm going.
Asher: 'Till the day we die old friend. But wait- Doesn't the helicopter only hold 9 people?
Will: Yes, comfortably with supplies in tow as well. It'll be an uncomfortable ride, but it'd work. Who else is in?
Reese: I'm in the mood for adventure. Let's go.
Ellis: Sure. I'm following you, uncle Willis!
Joshua: Eh...I don't know yet.
Will: Take your time. I'm not leaving 'til tonight.
Jasper: No. We've worked too hard on this place.
Will solemly nods.
Will: One staying, one undecided, five going.
Kameron: I'm sorry, I have to stay. It's what Margaret and Joseph would've wanted.
Will sighs, but nods.
Lady: I'm going with Brealynn
Dean: I'll stay. I like it here. And I'm not sure the military know what they're doing.
Will shrugs, and chokes back a tear.
Will: It's up to you Ashlynn.
Ashlynn: I...I...I don't know. Brealynn?
Brealynn: Riley was fun! Can I go?
Ashlynn: Go ahead sweetie. I'm going too.
Will grins, and Ellis laughs.
Will: Seven going, one still undecided, and three going. I know damn well that I'm going, so it's eight-
Will: Good to have you back. You guys still have time to change your mind, but were leaving in three hours.
Asher: Will, can I talk to you for a second?
Will: Yeah, hold on you guys. Get packed if you're going, say your goodbyes. It's gonna be hard leaving.
Asher and Will turn the corner out of the foyer. Asher proceeds to walk towards his room, so Will follows.
Will: What's going on?
Asher: Are you sure this a good idea? What if there's nothing there but undead and ashes? What if there's nothing standing, and everyone's dead, and it was a complete waste of time and fuel?
Will: That's the risk we're taking. These are my comrades, my brothers, my friends. If you don't want to risk it, fine by me, but I'd like you to be there, in case shit goes haywire. We've been there since the begenning. It's been about a year now. I'll bet Riley and his guys have some place under control. But, If it isn't we'll just bump back to Oregon and into the undead hell. So, if it's nothing there, we'll go east. Across the Mississippi River, and see how things are there. Those things can't swim, can they?
Asher: Your enthusiasm made you a great leader, didn't it? I'm in.
Will: God damn, why did we just bump around Oregon? We're only twenty five miles from the cabin. It's kind of funny, really.
Asher: It is. We didn't know what the hell we were doing, did we?
Will: Not even close.
Asher: I'll tell everyone to get thier belongings ready. I'll see you around.
Will: Alright, and you may want to say goodbye to Luan. And...yeah...
Asher nods and walks off.
Erika looked down at her torn and scratched rucksack. She opened the drawers of her dresser and searched her room for belongings worth packing. On her dresser sat a picture of Erika and her boyfriend, sitting on a soccer field together. She sniffles, then shoves it into her rucksack. That picture kept Erika going, it reminded Erika of her old life, her job, and her boyfriend. But when she looked at that picture, a horrible memory sparked in her head. When driving in Kenniwick, before the apocalypse, their car crashed. Her boyfriend wasn't wearing his seatbelt, and he flew right out the windshield, killing him on impact.
Erika: Oh god, try to think about something else!
She hastily opened the rest of the dresser doors, jamming in extra changes of clothing, her Double Barreled Shotgun, and her Glock 17. When she opened the last drawer, a little box was inside.
Erika: Thank god I found you.
Three Hours LaterEdit
Will: Alright. Anybody change their minds?
Erika: Yeah. I did.
Will: Sounds good. Kameron, Dean. Still staying?
Dean: Actually... I think I'd like to be with more people.
Kameron: I'm going too, then. I can't raise this baby out here on my own. No way in hell. My husband would've wanted Sasha to stay alive.
Jasper: Oh, well in that case I'm going too.
Will: Great. Everybody load up!
They start packing just about everything they have into the helicopter.
Ashlynn: This... This is a good thing. I know it is.
Dean: Of course. As long as we stick together, we'll make it through this. We're a group.
Will: We...should get going..... We've got work to do.
Mason is the first to hop up. He grabs Reese's hand and pulls her up, then Will jumps up and helps Miller. Asher lifts Brealynn, who is holding Guiness, up and then climbs up and helps Ashlynn. Mason pulled up Ellis. Graydon climbed up and then pulled Lady. They started packing in supplies. After it was completely packed with barely any wiggling room whatsoever, Erika was the last to hop up. The helicopter's rotor blades whirred, then took off from the roof. Will saluted before the loading ramp closed. The helicopter flew away northwest from the school, going around the storm, now passing over the route home. Mason and Reese knew the way to get home, but it would take some piloting to get around. Mason yelled over the sound of the engine.
Mason: ALRIGHT! THE STORM IS CLOTTED INTO THE NORTHEAST SECTION OF OREGON, AND SPREAD DOWN OVER BAKER CITY, WHICH WAS THE ROUTE HOME! WE'RE GONNA GO FAR EAST INTO GRANT COUNTY, THEN LOOP AROUND THE STORM INTO SOUTHERN OREGON OVER MALEHUR COUNTY! WE'LL COME INTO IDAHO NEAR SILVER CITY, OR NEAR DUCK VALLEY INDIAN RES! IT'LL BE A LONG RIDE, SO SIT TIGHT! IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR, WE'LL BE IN GRANT COUNTY!
Will: Don't worry you guys! We'll be fine!
30 Minutes Later...Edit
Mason: ALRIGHT! GRANT COUNTY! WE'LL BE OVER PRARIE CITY IN A SECOND!
Will: I'm suprised this piece of shit hasn't broken down-
Suddenly, an explosion in the back corner of the Chinook sends the helicopter off course and spiraling toward city center. Mason and Reese pull back, leveling the helicopter. The back propellor set was slightly vibrating, shuddering the helicopter.
Will: DAMNIT! KARMA! EVERYBODY HANG ON!
Asher: WE COULD BAIL! WE HAVE PARACHUTES!
Reese: NEGATIVE ON THAT ONE! WE'VE ONLY GOT 12 PARACHUTES, AND 16 PEOPLE!
Mason: HANG ON! I THINK I HAVE A GRIP ON THE CONTROLS! ONLY A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE PEDALS! WE'LL BE OK, IF WE'RE LUCKY!
Ashlynn: DAMN THIS PIECE OF SHIT!
Brealynn: I'M SCARED!!!!!!
Ellis: WE'LL BE FINE!!!! Y'ALL HOLD TIGHT! MASON'S GOT THIS!
The back tip of the helicopter disconnects, sending the helicopter spinning, Mason grips the controls tight as the warning lights and buzzer blast in his face.
Mason: Everybody! BAIL OUT! GO GO GO! PARACHUTES IN BACK!!!
